Unit 2 Addition and Subtraction
Objectives:
Chapter 1-Meanings of Addition and Subtraction:
*Review the part-whole concepts of addition and subtraction.
*Use addition to find a whole, and subtraction to find a part.
*Compare the quantities in two sets using subtraction.
*Relate "more than" and "less than" to addition and subtraction.
*Review addition and subtraction of one-digit and two-digit numbers, using mental calculations, where renaming does not occur.
*Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction within 100 (no renaming).
*Review addition of one-digit number to a two-digit number where renaming does occur, using mental calculations.
*Review subtraction of a one-digit number to a two-digit number, where renaming does occur, using mental calculations.
Chapter 2-Addition Without Renaming:
*Add a two-digit number to a two-digit number or three-digit number, without renaming, using the standard algorithm.
*Add within 1,000 without renaming using the standard algorithm.
*Solve word problems involving addition within 1,000, without renaming.
Chapter 3-Subtraction Without Renaming:
