HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thank you all for your generous gifts, I really appreciate them! I am also thankful for the gift of teaching your children! I hope you all are having a wonderful Winter Break and are excited to begin a new year.
The First Graders have been working hard learning the number bonds up to twenty; memorizing the addition facts to twenty and subtraction facts from the number twenty. This month we will have "Memory Drills on adding 6 to 0-12, adding 0-6 to 0-12, and adding 7 to 0-12. We will also have "Memory Drills on subtracting 6 from 6-18, subtracting 0-6 from 0-18, and subtracting 7 from 7-19. Please be practicing these facts at least ten minutes a day.
During January, we will complete Unit 7 on Shapes, Unit 8 on Length, Unit 9 on Weight, and Unit 10 on Capacity. If you would like an outline of those units, please see the First Grade Curriculum section on my website.
I have tentatively scheduled tests on the following dates:
Thursday, January 7th-Unit 7 Test on Shapes.
Thursday, January 14th-Unit 8 Ch 1 & 2 Tests on Length.
Thursday, January 21st-Unit 9 Ch 1 & 2 Tests on Weight.
Thursday, January 28th-Unit 10 Ch 1 & 2 Tests on Capacity.
If you would like your child to be bettered prepared for each test, please have them take the corresponding practice test. They are available at the First Grade Practice Test section on my website.
Thank you again for all the wonderful presents!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Brunasso
