HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are looking forward to the upcoming holidays!

The Second Graders have been busy learning how to measure with a ruler and reading a scale.  They have also been learning to multiply by zero through four. The Second Graders will begin to practice division facts. This month they will have "Memory Drills" on multiplying 0-12 by 0-4, 0-12 by 5, and multiplying 0-12 by 0-5.  The Second Graders will have “Memory Drills” on Mixed Addition and Subtraction facts as well. These facts range from 0 + 0 = 0 to 12 + 12 = 24 and the inverse subtraction facts. Please make sure that your child is practicing these facts at home at least ten minutes a day. Please have your child begin to memorize the division facts. This month we will complete Unit 5 which is on multiplication and division, and begin Unit 6 on multiplying and dividing by 2 & 3.  If you would like a more detailed description of these units, please refer to the Second Grade Curriculum section on my website.

I have tentatively scheduled tests on

Friday, December 4th-Unit 4 Chapter 3 test on Pounds and Ounces.

Friday, December 11th-Unit 5 Chapter 1 & 2 Test on Multiplication & Division.

Thursday, December 17th-Drills.+

Friday, December 18th-No Singapore Test. Happy Holidays.

Please encourage your child to complete the practice tests before each quiz.  This will better prepare them. The Practice Tests are available on the Second Grade Practice Test section on my website.  I have been very pleased with all the Extra Practice that has been completed! Please continue to look at the Practice Tests section on my website each week for more worksheets.
